POD
We had a lovely long weekend in Portland. Josie and I took the train down Thursday morning, and Eric came after work on Friday. We got to spend lots of time with all the family.
Heidi and I had a good time sewing- we both picked out neat fabric to make a little case, mine for knitting needles, hers for paintbrushes.
Today my Grandma (Josie's GREAT grandma) and a couple of great aunts are coming by to see her. That should be fun!

3rd Tooth
Josie's third tooth, the top right one, has finally made an appearance after weeks of swollen and painful gums. This tooth seemed to be so much more painful and bothersome than the bottom ones, leaving a blood blister and a big split it it's wake. Poor girl!
Josie has become increasingly mobile in the last weeks, crawling all over, pulling up on everything, standing on her own for a split second before thumping on to her bottom, and even climbing on top of things.
New favorite games include things like pulling every item out of the laundry basket, chewing shoelaces, and chasing Milo's tail around.
We have been working hard the last 10 days or so to get Josie to sleep in her crib, and sleep for longer stretches. She has been pretty resistant (of course! who would want to leave the comfort and snuggles of mom's bed and the all night snack bar??), but the last couple of nights have been much better. She slept 6 hours without needing us last night, had a quick feed and then zonked back out for 4 more hours without a peep. As I am writing this, she has been asleep in her crib for a nap for 2 hours! So, things are finally getting much better in that regard.
And a quick photo from Uncle Carl's visit last week.

First Words!
Josie has started to say "mama"! It's the cutest thing in the world... of course I would think that, but it's true! Sometimes she'll hold out her arms and say it, and it melts my heart. She also waved bye bye for the first time on Friday, which was so neat.

9 months in HAWAII!
We just returned from our week long trip to Maui. We had a nice time relaxing, but unfortunately the weather was not good and poor Eric got a terrible cold. From the near-tsunami in the beginning of the week, pouring rain and 30+ mph tradewinds, we did not see much beach- bum time. Josie was not a fan of the windy beach, as you can see from her facial expressions in the photos.
She has really transformed in the last weeks from being content to sit and play to a super mobile, all over the place, search and destroy unit. It's amazing. And scary. She has bonked her head more times in the past couple of weeks than the rest of her life combined by far!
All in all, I am amazed by my little girl every day. It's astounding how much joy I feel when she discovers new things! As my friend Katie pointed out, now she has been on the outside just as long as she was on the inside... what an incredible fact, time flies.
