We are currently in Portland enjoying the last days of our Christmas vacation before we head back to Seattle. There will be lots of great Christmas photos uploaded soon!
Today I wanted to record the appearance of Josie's first teeth for posterity. Her first tooth (left lower front) appeared on 12/21. The right lower one followed about a week later. Six and a half months... pretty much right on time! Now the left one is a really sharp little ridge and the right one is making itself felt, too. Her smile is going to look a lot different.
Tomorrow- New Year's Eve- Josie will be seven months old! Happy New Years!

Attack Josie
Josie is teething. Today when she was giving us some big grins we noticed that we can see two little white teeth shining below the surface of her gums. This video is a demonstration of how she is coping with her teething pain!

Baby knits
Here are some photos of my recent knitting projects that I finally finished! I started the little pink baby shrug in the middle of my pregnancy ... but have only recently been able to pick up my needles again. The vest I made because it's been cold lately, and I wanted Josie to have a cute extra layer. I'm not an expert and it takes me a long time to finish things, but I have to say I am proud of these two cute little garments.

6 months
I can hardly believe it. Half a year has passed since Josie Maria was born. She is 6 months old, doing so many amazing things and adding new skills every day.
She weighs 15 pounds 8 ounces, and is 26 inches long! She is rolling and sitting and scooting herself in circles with her feet. She still has no teeth and no hair, but I am confident those will come with time :-).

Thanksgiving
We had a wonderful Thanksgiving at the Grompe grandparents. Everyone was there: Maria, Carl (and his roomate Napo), Heidi... only missing were Chris and Lucy with twins Evie and Henry, which was too sad! Evie was sick. Dinner was great as always, and it was just fun to be around all of our lovely family members. Josie slept pretty well considering the ruckus.
We are so thankful to have our wonderful baby Josie. We were thinking back to last Thanksgiving, when we announced to the family we had a baby on the way. How far we have come since then! She is such a blessing.
First foods!
Josie was finally able to really eat some food this Thanksgiving weekend, after much anticipation and drooling over just about everything we eat. The first thing we tried was carrots, which she liked. Second was squash, which she LOVED! It was an amazingly positive reaction toward solid food, and by the second try with squash it was obvious she was really swallowing some bites. Here are a couple of pictures of our messy eater, and there is also a video which we will add later.
