2 Months

Josie is 2 months old today. We were at the pediatrician this morning, and she weighs 10 lbs 14 oz, which is right about the 50th percentile. She is doing so well, we just love her so much!

Macro shoot

Here are some photos from my most recent experiments with my macro lens. Some of them turned out great!

Photos from centering

We met up with my midwifery centering group and all the moms and babies again on wednesday. Sally, one of the other moms, shot some great photos. Here are a couple.

video test

We have a new video camera, which Eric has been having a great time with. We haven't had time to figure out how to edit video yet, so these are full length, kind of a test run (but super cute nonetheless!)

7 weeks

We had a fun visit from Heidi this week. She hitched a ride with some neighbor friends on wednesday, and headed back on the train last night. She enjoyed lots of Josie time, including some early morning snuggles most mornings that allowed me to have a bit of a nap. She was an incredible helper and even washed cloth diapers and did dishes. She can come back anytime!!!

Today Josie is 7 weeks today, and getting bigger all the time! She is getting little rolls on her thighs and wrists, dimples in her elbows and knuckles, and looking cute and chubby all around.

smiles

Josie gave me some beautiful smiles this morning. Too bad I only had the cell phone nearby, the pics aren't that great. If I had had my rebel those would have been priceless! Ah well, cute anyway.

6 weeks

Our tiny baby is 6 weeks old! Today we were at the pediatrician, and she weighs 9 pounds, 9 ounces. That is 3 full pounds more than her birth weight! Tomorrow we will find out what her most recent bilirubin is, hopefully her jaundice is improving.

Out with friends

Today we were out at Greenlake with Lili and Brennan, babies of some work friends. Lili is 4 months old- a very cute forecast to what Josie will be able to do soon! Brennan is just 2 days younger than Josie.

5 week update

Josie is getting bigger and bigger by the day. Sometimes I look at her and I don't even see the tiny newborn anymore! Her cheeks have taken on a life of their own, and she has outgrown all her tiny newborn sized clothes.
We have had a few new challenges in the past week. She has been fussier than usual, especially in the evening, in preparation for her amazing new skill: smiling! I have tried and tried to capture it on camera and haven't gotten any really great ones, but today I got a few smaller smiles. I'm sure I'll have lots more opportunities to try! The greatest thing is when she cracks a huge smile and her dimples show. She also does a crazy laugh sort of sound where she sucks in her breath really quick, especially when she is playing with Eric.
Another exciting development- longer sleep stretches! Last night was an all time record of 5 hours of solid sleep. The night before she did just over 4 hours, and she has made it to almost 4 several times in the last week or two. Yippee! The only unfortunate thing is that she often wants to be awake after her longest stretch, which usually falls around 3 or so in the morning. But we're making progress towards better night time sleep, which is a relief.

4th of July beach weekend

This weekend was our first real trip with Josie. We drove to Portland Thursday evening, spent Friday with the Yost grandparents, and then drove to Seaside on Saturday for a day at the Peterschmidt 4th of July gathering at the beach. Auntie Annie got her a cute 4th of July themed onsie! All of my cousins loved meeting her. Evie was especially cute: "She's my baby, I love her!" she declared. Here are a few photos from our adventure.
Also, Josie has started smiling. She gives them out every once in a while and of course we love it... soon I think she is going to really start doing it more consistently.
