Baby bean #2

Our second baby girl is having some health concerns. We created a Caring Bridge website to keep people up to date, so if you are interested in hearing the story here is the link: http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/babyyost. Thanks for your support and love.

Belly

I feel huge, definitely bigger than I was by now with Josie. But looking at the picture I think I have a long way to go!

Josie Maria turns 3

Josie's 3rd birthday party was a dinosaur theme, with strawberry cake and meat (for the T rexes) as requested. We had the whole family here, minus Carl and Ang. It was grand! Josie pranced around in her Cinderella dress roaring like a dinosaur :) Here is the link to dad's pbase pics: http://www.pbase.com/peterschmidt/josie_3&page=all

New baby on the way

Well, we have a new baby coming around Halloween. Things are going well and we are all very excited.
I am about 4 months along, feeling pretty good and starting to get a bit of a tummy. My navel has flattened out, too. I think it will be fun to have the belly in the summer with all the cute breezy dresses and such to wear.
I have already felt baby bouncing around in there for a couple of weeks. I couldn't believe how early I felt it, 14 weeks! 3 weeks earlier than last time.
I was pretty sick and for a long time, still having some nausea at 16 weeks. I haven't thrown up in a few days, so I think maybe I've turned the corner for real now. Around 12 weeks I was anticipating I would feel better and so every day I would announce to Eric that I thought I felt better... Not so much. Pretty soon he didn't believe me any more but now I think it's really true.
Josie is thrilled at the idea of having someone in the family she is in charge of. She has declared that we should name it Boots if it's a boy and Josie or princess Aurora if it's a girl. Here are a couple recent pics of her for fun.

Random pictures spring 2012

Josie likes to pretend she is being boiled for dinner in the bath sometimes. She even adds veggies and spices to the Josie stew. Yum.

In this picture Josie is imitating a character in a book she loves, called No David! As you can imagine, David gets into all kind of trouble, including when he bangs pots in the kitchen and makes a huge racket. Josie thinks this is hilarious.

Naps have gotten a little interesting lately. Mostly we don't have them, but in this day she got a sliver in her foot, which was so traumatic that she just cried herself out of my lap on the couch. Sweet :)

Josie is big into helping. Here she is helping dad drill some furniture together.

We made a twinkle cave as a nice calm spot to go when she needs to cool of a little. She put a blanket and a stuffed animal in there. Heaven!

La Tourelle Falls

We had a nice family hike today in the Columbia gorge. It was not as warm as we thought it was, and Josie was pretty tired so she rode on daddy's back most of the way. She did enjoy eating some foraged sour greens, munch munch. The waterfalls were impressive! For me it brought back lots of memories of hiking in the Gorge as a kid. I'm pretty sure the Grompes had a Christmas card picture taken in front of this waterfall one year.

Camera cleanout feb-march 2012

Well, we've moved. And I have a new job, and I am orienting full time. And Eric has a new job. And things have been generally very insanely busy. But, we're here, and things are going well. I anticipate we will be settling into our new routine any day now :).
Notable things with Josie right now: she is in a super girly, loves princesses, will only wear dresses (preferably purple) mode. She is also wanting an eggy pancake daily or more than once daily, which is a Meemo invention I wanted to document for posterity. She must have it with butter, syrup, and "sour" (lemon juice). Yum.
Here are some pics from our move, our early days in the new house, a quick trip to Seattle to visit some girlfriends including Emily and her new baby Coleson, and today's lovely weather and yard projects.
